Filter protocol: Start Delay and Stop Delay action

The combination of a Start Delay action and a Stop Delay action allows to measure the time delay between two particular events generated:
  • The Start Delay action allows to generate a START DELAY system event linked to a first protocol event selected by the action specifications.
  • The Stop Delay action allows to generate a STOP DELAY system event linked to a second protocol event selected by the action specifications.
  • This system event indicates the time delay value calculated between the two protocol events.

Five Start Delay actions and five Stop Delay actions can be specified independently for five different delay measurements. They are numbered from 1 to 5 and their identification can be customized.

Protocol without multiplexing capability

The Start Delay i and the Stop Delay i actions refer to selection conditions basically specified and the delay calculated is between two particular events taken into account as soon as encountered.

Protocol with multiplexing capability on a control-field value

Multiplexing capability allows to supervise and generate a family of delays (maximum 100) between pairs of events which match the selection conditions of the Start Delay i and the Stop Delay i actions.

The Start Delay i and the Stop Delay i actions refer to selection conditions basically specified. The delays calculated are between pairs of events which both refer to a particular control-field value additionally specified (X25 LCN, Q931 Call Reference, Frame Relay DLCI) in the protocol filter.

Delay time-out

To avoid any congestion of the delay calculation resources, a delay time-out can be defined between a START DELAY system event generated by the Start Delay i action and the related STOP DELAY system event expected to be generated by the Stop Delay i action.

The delay measure, in progress between events in protocol recording mode, which overtakes this limit, may be cancelled in order to free a delay calculation resource and makes a new delay measure possible to be initiated. A KILL DELAY system event is then generated to report the freeing of a delay calculation resource.
