How to use type of messages to filter events

The filter files provided  templates defined without any filtering action. The selection conditions of decoding mode, to be used must be defined in the specifications of an action.

For example, whilst an event file edition by the Protocol Event Editor, here is an example how to define a filter action:

  • Edition of the event file with a reference filter.
  • Access to the current filter.
  • In the filter action list, replace None by Display.
  • The selection conditions are to be specified by the action edition.

OSI layer 2 RR frames filtering

Here is an example how to use a display action and to select all the protocol events which correspond to all the types of OSI layer 2 frames (LAPB for example) except the RR frames:

  • Select the action Display (Replace None with Display).
  • Edit the action (Events from Filter set 1 which groups by default all the interfaces).
  • Frame normal type de-selected (Protocol events - BOP (D:1) Decoding).
  • All frame types selected (TD + RD) except RR frame type de-selected (Protocol events - OSI Layer2 (D:2) Decoding).
