How to simulate ATM SVC signalling on STM1 interface

Monitoring and simulation on the SVC signalling channel is carried out according to a connection on the VCC defined to support the signalling link.

Connecting the unit

The Clarinet Book SCSI STM1/E3 uses the both A and B ports for simulating and monitoring the both T and R directions.
See the pictures in 'How to connect E3/STM1 interface to Clarinet-Book E3/STM1'

Setting the test conditions for STM1

A new profile can be created  with the Wizard from the Template list by selecting:

  • ATM application.
  • Profile with a description including ATM, Simu, DL=Q2931
  • Filter with a description including Protocol= Q2931

Profile resulting from the wizard is ready for PDU monitoring on one VCC.

Simulation mode over one UNI VCC

By default the monitoring profile is specified for  PDUs acquisition with the following significant parameters:

  • Reassembly function:
    • Monitor unrecognized cells = No.
Only the VCI+VPI defined in the VCC specification are monitored
    • OAM cells monitored = Yes
  • VCCs:
    • Virtual Channel Connection #1:
      • Usage: UNI signalling
      • AAL type = AAL5
      • Cells header: VCI= 0 VPI=  5
  • Segmentation function:

    • VBR: Intercell Interval=256
    • UBR: enabled

Signalling specification

By default the profile is specified with the following signalling behavior:

  • Emulators:

  • Q2130 layer
  • ITU-Q2931 layer
  • Outgoing SVC:

  • 2 Outgoing SVC specified
  • SETUP messages filled with standard IEs
  • Incoming SVC:

  • Accept behavior
