How to monitor digital content (Byte-TS) of one ISDN B channel

Clarinet Run-time allows to monitor the digital content of one B channel simultaneously with  the ISDN-D channel over an ISDN-BRI or ISDN-PRI interface. Acquisition of each Byte carried over the B channel is synchronized to the relevant Time-Slot . Generated events include a block of Bytes (see Byte-TS events).

Connecting the unit and setting the test conditions

The connections of Clarinet-Book USB units and the settings of test conditions for a basic monitoring are detailed in the following pages:

Profiles resulting from the wizard are ready for Q931 or X25 monitoring in the D channel over BRI or PRI. A new filter selected among one dedicated to the protocol used in the B channel should be selected. The description should  include SL= Q931 and the following options:

  • DL=BYTE-TS

The B channel can be a defined by a value or automatically selected.

Example: Modifications to monitor BOP protocol over B channel #2

In the profile access to Interface-Spec... ->Data Link and select:

  • Emulation mode: Analysis
  • Data Link Type: Byte-TS
  • TD Time Slots: 2
  • RD Time Slots: 2

Warning: any number and value of TS can be selected but the same number of TS's must be selected in TD and RD.

Example: Modifications to monitor B channel defined by IE "Called Party Number"

In the profile access to Interface-Spec... ->Data Link and select:

  • Emulation mode: Analysis
  • Data Link Type: BTS
  • Selecting IE: IE=Called Party number
  • Coding ->
    • Type of Number= Subscriber Number
    • Numbering Plan= ISDN
    • Number digits= 34567890

A system event "DL-Analysis ON" is generated at the beginning of acquisition.
