How to monitor Frame-Relay or X25 over Vseries interfaces

Connecting the unit

The Clarinet Book USB Vseries uses serial or parallel mode to connect.
See 'How to connect Vseries interface to Clarinet-Book USB

Setting the test conditions for Vseries monitoring

A new profile can be created with the Wizard from the Template list by selecting:

  • Profile->New->Vseries......See: building
  • Profile with a description including Vseries, Monitor, PH=V24 DL=BOP
  • Filter with a description including one of the options:
    • DL=BOP
    • DL=Frame Relay
    • DL=X25

Profile resulting from the wizard is ready for BOP monitoring on a V24 interface.

Example: Modifications to support V24 interface with 113/115 clocks

By default the 114/115 mode is selected (two clocks coming from DCE). The 113/115 mode corresponds to one clock coming from DCE and one clock coming from DTE

In the profile access to  Interface-Spec... ->Physical level :

  • Terminal clocks: select 113/115

For information: the clock value is not significant (automatically extracted) in this monitoring mode

Example: Modifications to support X24/V11 interface with X/S clocks

In the profile access to  Interface-Spec... ->Physical level :

  • Interface type:  select X24
  • Terminal clocks: select X/S

For information: the clock value is not significant (automatically extracted) in this monitoring mode

Example: Modifications to support V35 interface with 114/115 clocks

In the profile access to  Interface-Spec... ->Physical level :

  • Interface type:  select V35
  • Terminal clocks: select 114/115

For information: the clock value is not significant (automatically extracted) in this monitoring mode

Example: Modifications to support V36 interface with 114/115 clocks

In the profile access to  Interface-Spec... ->Physical level :

  • Interface type:  select V36
  • Terminal clocks: select 114/115

For information: the clock value is not significant (automatically extracted) in this monitoring mode

Running the profile

To launch the profile:

  • Select Profile->Run or click over horse_on.gif (968 octets) . It allows to select the name of profile. See Running a test
  • The windows of the Event-Editor is automatically opened.

To stop the profile

  • Click over horse_off.gif (975 octets)  See: Stopping a test
  • The window of the Event-Editor is automatically close

Clock frequency measurement

During profile execution, the Clock manual command causes the measurement of the clock frequency of the Data link.
