How to simulate one basic call over BRI U/S-T from the network side

Simulation of an ISDN terminal  is one of the features directly covered by the templates included in the  Clarinet Run-Time.

Connecting the unit

The Clarinet Book USB U/S-T which simulates the Network side in front of a Network, uses one of the interfaces:

  • U: the "From NT" RJ45 connector. See:  pin-out
  • S/T: one of the "S/T Bus" RJ45 connectors. See:  pin-out

See the pictures in 'How to connect BRI interface to Clarinet-Book USB'

Creating the profile for BRI-Network simulation

A new profile can be created  with the Wizard from the Template list by selecting:

  • Profile->New->ISDN......See: building
    • ETSI
    • ATT
  • Profile with a description including ISDN, Simu, Network, PH=S0 or U, SL=Q931
    • ETSI
    • ATT
  • Filter with a description including  SL= Q931, DL=BOP

Example using the wizard:

  • ProfileèNewèISDNèETSIèisdn_etsi_simu_net_s0.acpèFilter?èisdn_etsi_bop.acf
  • ProfileèNewèISDNèATT-5ESSèisdn_att_simu_net_u.acpèFilter?èisdn_att_bop.acf

Profile resulting from the wizard is ready for monitoring in the D channel with Q931 decoding

  • Modifications to apply to the profile about physical interface:
    • U Options: Power source monitoring.
    • S/T  Options: Power source monitoring, 100 Ohms termination.....
  • Modifications to apply to the profile about Q931signalling:

    • Changing the dialed number: Generator è Comm1 èEdit è Called Party NumberèCoding

Saving the profile:

  • ProfileèSave asèfilename.acp.

Running the profile
